SANGHVI WINS $50,000 GRAND PRIZE FOR HIS MOBILE APP, PLANETCAR
The contest, sponsored by Santa Cruz electronics giant Plantronics’ transformative arm, PLT Labs, challenged teams competing from 33 countries to make the best companion app for Plantronics’ new Bluetooth headset, the Concept One.
BitCot’s Sanghvi was up for the challenge: He created PlanetCar, an app that uses built-in sensors to raise an alert in the event of a car accident or collision. His vision for PlanetCar was to assist first responders to reach an emergency site in record time.
This dedicated founder and architect of Bitcot, Inc., located in sunny San Diego, is the seasoned, experienced, go-to guy for all things app! Raj has 15 plus years in developing technology products, web platforms and mobile apps. Raj served as a software solutions architect and consultant for a number of well-known and respected technology companies; he’s been there, done it and continues to receive awards and recognition. (Sony, IBM, HDSupply, MiCron, AMCOR, Nissan Corporate, Nissan Forklift and others.)
As a Solutions Architect, he has vast developmental technological experience: J2EE and eCommerce applications using IBM WedSphere Commerce, Sterling, Intershop, Enfinity, GSI commerce, Magento, Oracle, Solaris, and mobile applications using IOS Android, Appcelerator to name just a few.
Prior to launching BitCot, as well as serving as an independent WebSphere Commerce Solution Architect, he was a senior consultant at Sony Electronics for a decade working on design and development of several B2B and B2C projects and back-end integration. Earlier credentials included solutions architect for CrossView and programmer analyst for a variety of international companies.
He received his master’s in computer science from the University of North Texas, and holds an undergraduate degree in engineering. In private life he is married and the proud dad of two young children.

Sanghvi and his BitCot team are on a mission to showcase how their apps can not only do good in the world but solve problems through technology. An important example is “Donate Red,” a mobile and web app that can be used worldwide to alert local blood banks of availability.
He is most proud of the recent award-winning app created in conjunction with Plantronics PLT Labs Application Innovation Contest. His PlanetCar mobile app earned the grand prize of $50,000 in competition with teams in more than 30 countries. Sanghvi says, “It will save lives through this technology.”
